The RCMP says someone in Prince Edward Island called the House of Commons in Ottawa Thursday morning and uttered a threat.
Sgt. Andrew Blackadar, with RCMP in P.E.I., said the threat was not directed at any particular member of Parliament.
He said the man called the general number at the House of Commons and “went on a very non-descript rant.”
At some point, Blackadar said, the caller said he “might get some more attention if he just went out and started shooting people.”
RCMP in P.E.I. arrested a 44-year-old Queens County man Thursday afternoon.
The man is due in court on Friday. He is expected to be charged with uttering threats and breach of an undertaking.
