Subdivision foes lose appeal

People opposed to a new subdivision in Cornwall are facing disappointment.
Residents had appealed to the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission, in an attempt to stop the development.
The plan calls for 108 townhouses and duplexes. The residents argued that would be too dense for what is essentially a rural area and would spoil the landscape.
"We felt that we had a very good case," said Andre Lavoie. "I still feel that we had a we had a very good case. Unfortunately, IRAC saw it differently ... I guess, as the saying goes, we'll just have to suck it up."
When Cornwall council approved the project, councillors said more types of housing developments are needed for the growing town.
