Ladies vying for 'Dorothy' role on CBC reality show

Two Islanders have made it to the next stage of casting for the new CBC reality television show, Over the Rainbow.
Celia Koughan and Sydney Phelan auditioned In Halifax on Sunday.
"She just reached down and grabbed this gold ticket and was like, 'Well I think you could be Dorothy!'" Koughan told CBC News, "It was pretty exciting."
One hundred regional finalists will compete in Toronto for 10 position on the reality show.
Andrew Lloyd Webber, the acclaimed composer and producer, is one of the judges on the reality show.
Canadians will be able to vote online to help judges select the finalists.
The winner of Over the Rainbow will perform Dorothy in theatre production of The Wizard of Oz in Toronto in December.
According to the show's website they're looking for a modern day Dorothy, who can "redefine the role and make it her own." "Dorothy is a teenager who wants to break free from her life and see the world. She needs to be feisty, spirited and funny," the website says. Judy Garland's portrayal of Dorothy in the classic 1939 film is one of the most iconic performances of all time.Share Tools
