Two Charlottetown city councillors are struggling to get information on how money to bring the NHL's Dallas Stars to P.E.I. was spent.

'Did we get value for our money?'— Coun. Danny Redmond

The NHL team brought its training camp to the Island in 2010 and 2011 but won't be back next season. The city spent at least $35,000 a year on the promotion.

Councillors Eddie Rice and Danny Redmond both want a financial line-by-line accounting of how taxpayers' money was used. Redmond said city residents have a right to know.

"Myself and all the other councillors voted for it and I believe any councillor should be able to walk in and say, 'I'd like to get a breakdown,'" he said.

"Value for your money, I guess that's a good way of looking at it, did we get value for our money?"

Redmond asked for the financial information three weeks ago and he's still waiting. He said he was told it could be difficult to release the financial breakdown because of privacy concerns involving other partners.

Redmond said he'll continue to push for how the city's money was spent.
