The group competed against 33 other schools from 15 other countries in the Wing Lung Bank International Institute for Business Development (IIBD) Case Competition.
Five teams were selected to compete in the final round in Hong Kong, The Island team studied up to 20 hours a week during the summer to prepare. At the final event, each team was presented a case and had six hours to provide recommendations to the company.
Team member Jordan McNally told CBC News Tuesday just having the opportunity to travel to the final was an amazing experience.
"Not too many times in your life that you get a free trip to Hong Kong," said McNally.
"Just to share it with this group of people, and how great we were at working together and everything, and our professor as well. It was a once in a life-time opportunity. It'll never be forgotten, for sure."
The team - which also included Jingshu Zhang, Kristina MacLean and Janell MacDonald - said winning this award is a huge accomplishment for the UPEI School of Business.
Competition judge Raymond Tong, CEO of Pacific Coffee Limited, was so impressed with the UPEI team that he offered each of them a job upon graduation.
