Some alarming cloud formations on what was otherwise a fine Monday on P.E.I.
CBC meteorologist Steve Stringer described the formations as cold air funnel clouds. Stringer said their similarity to tornadoes is in appearance only.
"These type of funnel clouds pose no present danger. Basically the most that they can do is if they roll over water then they can become a weak water spout," he said.
"A spectacular photo op, not a danger to the public."
Several Islanders took advantage of the photo op, and forwarded the pictures to CBC P.E.I.
