Pizza Brothers did not fix the health violations identified in early February for almost five weeks. CBC A pizza shop in downtown Charlottetown has fixed problems with cleaning after several warnings and finally the issuing of a health order earlier this month.
Health officials said the order was issued after the owners of Pizza Brothers failed to properly clean the restaurant, food preparation areas and storage facilities, or providing working washrooms, despite several warnings.
Inspectors first identified problems on Feb. 2. A second visit on Feb. 18 showed only minor improvements. A warning letter was issued and a third inspection was conducted on March 4.
"On March 4th full compliance was still not identified," said Joe Bradley, the province's environmental health manager.
"The file was reviewed with the chief health officer, and based on that review a health order was issued on March 7th to correct those three items."
Bradley said once the order was issued the problems were fixed within 24 hours. If they had not been, the department would have had the authority to shut the restaurant down.
