The winning time at the 51st edition of the Gold Cup and Saucer Race on Saturday night in Charlottetown was a record-breaker twice over for P.E.I. harness racing.

Not only did horse Part Shark from Ontario circle the track in record time, but driver Scott Zeron is the youngest person to set a record at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 21-year-old Ontario driver circled the track in one minute 51 seconds.

"If he makes front, I don't think there's a horse that will go past him, and he proved me right again tonight," Zeron said in the winner's circle. "He's just a phenomenal animal, and I'm so happy the owners brought me down to drive him."

The Sobeys Gold Cup and Saucer is the final event in Charlottetown's Old Home Week.
