A single vehicle garage at a home in Oyster Bed, P.E.I., was destroyed by fire on Tuesday night.
New Glasgow Fire Department officials said they believe it was caused by a bench grinder, the third such fire in a week in the province.
Fire Chief Robert Gallant said the son of the building's owner was in the garage about an hour before the incident, sharpening an axe with a grinder.
"People just have to be a little more conscious and realize what they're doing with the sparks flying and leaving it unattended," said Gallant. "It is a concern for sure."
Gallant said the structure was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene.
The nearby home was not damaged.
