A player for the P.E.I. Rocket junior ice hockey team has been charged with assault.
Officials with the team said forward player Chris Doyle, 19, spent the night in jail following the incident some time last week, but are giving no further details.
P.E.I. Rocket general manager Kent Hudson said Doyle is allowed to practise and play for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team until the case goes to court.
Hudson said the team made that decision.
Doyle was the team's second leading scorer last season. He was suspended earlier this season after tripping a referee.
