Angela Michelle MacKinnon, 34, was the program co-ordinator at AIDS PEI from April 2005 to March 2008, during which time money went missing from the organization.

"We're just really glad that finally there's a conclusion in sight because it has been a very dark period for our organization," executive director Mark Hanlon said.

"There's been a lot of guilt and lot of ill feelings I guess, and we're just looking forward to putting it behind us and moving forward and back into the work that we've been known for doing and we will continue to do."

The exact amount of money stolen has not been disclosed. Those details are expected at a pre-sentencing hearing next month.

Hanlon said clients and employees of AIDS PEI are preparing victim impact statements for the sentencing.
