The president of P.E.I.'s Murphy Group of Restaurants says his vice-president was wrong when he said volunteers would be working food stalls at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival.
Earlier this month Murphy Group published a newspaper ad asking for volunteers. Vice-president Christ Wright told CBC News the company was looking for 250 volunteers so that the company could put in a low bid to work the concert.
President Kevin Murphy said Thursday Wright's comment was not correct. He said volunteers will only be working at the beer tent, which is raising money for charity.
"We are very happy to have Oak Acres Children's Camp as our charity, and we're hoping that the volunteers, that's where they'll be working, under the supervision of the management of our company, which will be paid," said Murphy.
Murphy said staff working at the food stalls will be paid.
The Cavendish Beach Music Festival is being held on the weekend of July 11.
