On his way to make a bank deposit, Ian Walker lost a stack of bills to a gust of wind. (CBC)A Charlottetown landlord is thanking the strangers who helped scoop up the more than $10,000 in cash that blew into a city street Monday.
Ian Walker was getting out of his truck to go to the bank when a gust of wind carried the money out of his unzippered deposit bag. Cash quickly scattered everywhere on the busy street.
"When I dropped it, immediately, of course, I was trying to pick it up. But it was just blowing everywhere and I couldn't possibly do it myself," said Walker. He called out for help and passersby quickly came to his aid.
"There were women in dresses and everything. They were down underneath vehicles picking up the money. Young people were picking up the money and they were just saying, 'Whose money is this?' and bringing it to me and handing it to me. So it was just amazing that they were able to do that. I'm very happy and very grateful."
When Walker got to the bank he had $10,300, meaning all of the money was returned.
He still can't figure out how the wind managed to free the stack of bills.
