A Hamilton man who was returned to P.E.I. over the weekend to face two counts of aggravated sexual assault has been released from custody.

Darral James O'Regan, 56, was in court Monday morning, where a justice of the peace ruled he was not a danger to the public and released him on $500 bail.

O'Regan was arrested Friday in Hamilton. RCMP accuse him of having sex with two P.E.I. residents in June 2007 without disclosing he had a serious medical condition. Due to a publication ban, CBC News cannot report what that condition is, or information about the two victims.

O'Regan will next appear in court Sept. 17 to enter a plea.
