Holland College is planning to help build a computer lab for young students in China's earthquake-devastated province of Sichuan.

The P.E.I. college has connections in the region through its Enhance Rural Teacher Training pilot project, and Dave Beaton, director of programs, and Jolene Chan, manager of international development, recently returned from China where they met with education officials to determine how they best could help.

"It is beyond our capability to even rebuild a single school, but our funds can be meaningfully put towards building a computer lab that will benefit the students," Chan said in a news release.

The school has already raised $18,000 for the project and is looking to raise $30,000 in total. That should be enough for a 20-station computer lab, complete with furniture.
