The closing of NOFG's hog plant in Charlottetown has opened some new opportunities for the Maple Leaf-Larsen's hog processing plant in Berwick, N.S.
The processing line at NOFG will close at the end of the month.

The Berwick plant manager, Mike Lee, told CBC News on Tuesday his plant has had trouble finding hogs in the Maritimes, but he is now expecting about 1,800 hogs a week from P.E.I. farmers starting April 1.
Lee said the increased production could mean jobs for those Islanders out of work at Natural Organic Food Group Inc..
"We've asked the plant manager over there to put up a posting. Certainly if anyone is interested we'd be more than happy to talk to them," Lee said.
"We're looking for hourly employees, and in fact we're also looking for some salaried employees, so if there are folks that are interested we'd be more than happy to receive their resumés."
The Berwick plant has already stepped up its processing line.
