Doctors caring for dying patients are looking forward to the reintroduction of a drug used to make the end of life easier.

Sanofi-aventis stopped production of Nozinan last November because of declining sales. The drug relieves anxiety, agitation and nausea.

Doctors on P.E.I. ran out of Nozinan last week. Dr. Mireille LeCours said the drug was useful because it treated multiple symptoms.

"You have to keep the patient comfortable, so if it takes three drugs to keep the patient comfortable, well, the patient will have three drugs," said LeCours.

Palliative care doctors across Canada banded together to let Sanofi-aventis know they didn't want them to stop making the drug.

The company announced recently it will begin making the drug again. Lecours said she expects to get her first shipment in July.
