Former provincial cabinet minister Gail Shea will be the Conservative candidate for Egmont in the next federal election.
Shea was the victor Saturday in a convention that put her up against two other former MLAs, Wilfred Arsenault and former tourism minister Philip Brown.

Shea easily outpaced the competition on the first ballot, collecting almost as many votes as both her competitors combined, but a second ballot was required to make it official.
The three candidates sold a combined 1,100 new memberships in a riding that previously only had about 200 Conservative members.
Shea said she'll try to keep that momentum going into the next election.
"I think the race has breathed new life into the federal Conservative party in Egmont," she said.
"People were commenting … they hadn't ever seen as big of a crowd at a federal Conservative gathering in this area. I think they sense that change is in the air."
Egmont has been held by the Liberals since 1980. Joe McGuire has been the MP for the last 19 years, but he has chosen not to run again. Robert Morrissey, a former Liberal provincial cabinet minister, won the nomination in his place.
