P.E.I.'s Western School Board has introduced a new policy to limit the use of cellphones and other digital devices.

As of Thursday, the first day of the new school year, students won't be allowed to use cellphones, cameras, palm pilots or MP3 players in any classroom.

The rules also apply to school buses, with the exception that students can listen to their MP3 players.

Students will be allowed to have the devices on school property and can use them between classes.

The Eastern School District came up with similar rules last spring, but its rules are stricter. The eastern board prohibits the use of all digital gadgets anywhere inside school walls.
