A Prince Edward Island band is featured on the soundtrack of the major Hollywood movie In the Land of Women.

'We're not going to show up with Meg Ryan and try to horn in on that.'— Alec O'Hanley, Two Hours Traffic

The film, starring Meg Ryan and Adam Brody, features the song Better Sorry Than Safe by Island band Two Hours Traffic. Band member Alec O'Hanley told CBC News the song plays for about 10 seconds in the film, but did make it on to the soundtrack album.

O'Hanley said the appearance was a big deal for the band, but perhaps even a bigger deal for parents of the band members.

"My dad … suggested trying to get to the premier of it down in Hollywood," he said.

"It's cool that we're in this movie but we're not going to show up with Meg Ryan and try to horn in on that. It's really cool and I don't want to sound dismissive about it at all, but the parents tend to get more into it."

The band's music has also been featured on television shows such as Ghost Whisperer, One Tree Hill, The O.C., and Whistler.

While appearances such as those are great exposure, said O'Hanley, they don't tend to pay very well.
