With the price of postage in Canada about to jump 35 per cent, P.E.I.'s Island Nature Trust is urging its newsletter subscribers to move to an electronic option.
'We put an article in the newsletter saying postal rates are going crazy.' - Jackie Waddell, Island Nature Trust
On March 31, the cost of stamps will jump from 63 to 85 cents. Island Nature Trust executive director Jackie Waddell told CBC News that will mean a big increase in costs for mailing out a quarterly newsletter to 300 subscribers.
"In every single issue of our newsletter we ask all of the people that get it to consider going electronic and every single time it goes out we get a few people, dribs and drabs," said Waddell.
"This time we put an article in the newsletter saying postal rates are going crazy, help us keep our costs down by going electronic."
She said cutting down on paper mail-outs will not only help the environment, but will also reduce costs.
So far about 20 people have switched over to email distribution. Waddell hopes at least 50 others will make the switch.
