RCMP say a Kingsboro man crashed his snowmobile and was forced to spend the night outside in the cold. (CBC)

A Prince Edward Island man was stranded for a night outside in the cold after he was injured when his snowmobile overturned down a large embankment on a trail near Kingsboro.

RCMP say the Kingsboro man in his 40s and crashed during a turn around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, hurting his leg.

He could not walk and his cell phone had no signal, but he remained conscious, spending the night by his snowmobile waiting for help to arrive.

Police were called around 6:30 a.m. and a friend of the man found him around 7:15 a.m.

He was taken to Kings County Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released the same morning.

RCMP say alcohol didn't play a role in the crash. They are urging anyone venturing outside to wear proper clothing.
