Speaking to CBC News after the swearing in ceremony, Shea had this to say to fishermen.

"I definitely will be there to listen to them. and to work with them," she said.

"At the end of the day what I want for them is for them to be able to make a good living from the sea, to have a viable, sustainable industry, and I think that's what all of us want. So we have to collectively work towards that."

Shea said she hopes to work with the industry to address price and marketing issues.
