Sandspit owners buy Cavendish plaza complex
Purchase includes Ripley's Believe it or Not!, Wax World of the Stars
The purchase includes attractions such as Ripley's Believe It or Not!, Wax World of the Stars, Mariner's Cove Miniature Golf as well as the land and the buildings of the plaza site.
New attractions will likely be added to the property, but it will take at least a year for that to happen, says Matthew Jelley, president of the Maritime Fun Group.
"When something becomes available so close to our existing operations, and in an industry that we are very familiar and very optimistic about, it was a great opportunity for us as a company," said Jelley.
"And the former owners have done a great job managing the property and we have lots of ideas to continue to grow it as well."
Existing attractions will open for the season May 16 and all staff will be offered to remain in their jobs, says Jelley.
Tim Hortons, Crossfire Paintball and J.J. Stewart Mercantile will all remain as tenants of the complex.
The Maritime Fun Group also owns and operates the Burlington Amusement Park, Sandspit Amusement Park, and Shining Waters Family Fun Park on P.E.I., as well as Magic Mountain Waterpark in Moncton.
