The P.E.I. government estimates it will spend about $100,000 to host Charles and Camilla later this month.
The Premier's office said the exact amount could be more or less, depending in part on security costs.
A spokesperson said the federal government will pay for VIP security, but any other required security will fall to the province and the city of Charlottetown to cost share.
Some preparation work at the Bonshaw park site is being paid for by Ottawa and the province.
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall arrive in P.E.I. on the evening of Victoria Day and tour Charlottetown, Cornwall and Bonshaw on Tuesday.
