Charlottetown Councillor Rob Lantz won't re-offer to represent the people of Ward 3, he announced on social media Tuesday.

Lantz will have served for eight years on council when the November election takes place.

He was chairman of the city's planning and heritage committee for the last four years.

When he was re-elected four years ago, Lantz said it would be his last term.

"I will have served eight years on council at the end of this term. It has been an incredible learning experience. The most satisfying aspect of the job has always been helping people; helping residents of the city solve problems and get things done," he wrote.

He praised the mayor and other councillors, along with city staff, for "progressive changes" to city zoning and development bylaws.
