RCMP confronted with sword during drug bust
Marijuana, prescription drugs seized from Stratford home
P.E.I. RCMP were threatened by man with a sword during a drug bust in Stratford over the weekend.
Police were executing a search warrant at a residence in the town early Saturday morning, when a 45-year-old man in the home confronted them wielding a sword.
No one was injured in the confrontation. The man has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and resisting arrest.
The search of the house resulted in the seizure of a quantity of marijuana, hydromorphone, percocet, methampathamine, drug paraphernalia and about $12,000 in cash.
"Considering the amount of drugs seized, we are confident that this seizure will have a significant impact on illegal drug trafficking." Said Sgt. Dwayne Loppie of Queens District RCMP in a news release.
The man has been remanded into custody until Tuesday.
