RCMP car almost struck by alleged drunk driver on P.E.I

An RCMP officer in P.E.I. had to take evasive action Thursday when an alleged drunk driver veered into the wrong lane and almost struck his cruiser.

An RCMP officer in P.E.I. had to take evasive action Thursday when an alleged drunk driver veered into the wrong lane and almost struck his cruiser.

The near-miss happened on Route 3 near Summerville in eastern P.E.I.

Police identified the man they accuse of being impaired as a man from Lower Montague.

He provided breath samples showing his blood-alcohol level was well over the legal limit.

The motorist has been charged with impaired driving and is scheduled to appear in provincial court on Jan. 17.
