Potato truck crash kills 1
Truck and the car pushed up against the high voltage power lines
One man is dead following a crash between a car and a potato truck early Tuesday afternoon in western P.E.I.
RCMP said the crash happened on the Haliburton Road in Springfield West.
Corp. Steve MacDonald said the driver of the car died on the scene.
“All that we can tell so far, it appears that the car crossed over into the path of the potato truck right into the other lane. That's where we believe the first point of impact happened,” he said.
“So then the truck kept coming forward, pushing the car right down into the ditch on the opposite side of the road.”
MacDonald said the driver of the truck was taken to hospital and was very shaken up.
Maritime Electric crews were called in because the truck and the car were pushed up against the high voltage power lines.
An accident reconstructionist was also called in.
The man's name has not been released.
