Emily Pass, a graduate of Charlottetown Rural's International Baccalaureate program, got a perfect score on her final exam, one of only 150 students internationally to achieve this.
The IB exam is marked by an international committee. It was written by 47,000 students worldwide.
Pass's high academic standing helped her win a $60,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship.
"Which was pretty exciting for me. It's based on academic successes as well as community entrepreneurial or business leadership," said Pass.
"Each of 20 universities select two Schulich leaders: one in engineering and one in science, technology or math."
Forty students were awarded from amongst 1,100 nominated.
Pass is going to study physics and astronomy at the University of Waterloo in Ontario in the fall. She hopes to become a research scientist at the Canadian Space Agency.
