P.E.I. residents who need assistance preparing their income tax returns can get help from the Canada Revenue Agency's Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.

Trained volunteers are able to help people with a modest income and simple tax return. That includes a  single person with an income up to $30,000; a couple with a combined income up to $40,000 and an adult and child with an income of $35,000.

The service is free and available in Charlottetown, Cornwall, Souris, Summerside, Hunter River, O'Leary and Montague.

Even if you have no income to report for 2015, the Canada Revenue Agency says an income tax return should still be filed to ensure eligibility to receive certain tax credits and benefits.
