WestJet is pleased with how things are going so far with a new direct flight from Charlottetown to Orlando this winter, officials say.

The weekly Friday flight began on December 18 and runs until late April.

"Our Charlottetown-Orlando service is performing in line with expectations," said WestJet media relations advisor Lauren Stewart.

This is the first sun-destination flight out of Charlottetown for WestJet. The company is also serving Orlando non-stop from 13 other points in Canada.

"It is a very popular destination with our guests and of course everybody loves to go down to Disney World and visit there," said Stewart.

"So we are expecting the next few months to be a busy time."

Charlottetown Airport officials say Orlando is one of the top five most visited cities in the U.S.
