There were more people working on P.E.I. last month when compared to December, mostly in new part-time jobs.
The unemployment rate fell from 11.6 per cent to 11.3 per cent. The increase in job numbers was somewhat offset by growth in the workforce.
The jump in part-time jobs reverses a trend that started in July, which saw those numbers falling in favour of full-time work. Overall, job numbers have been up and down since June, averaging around 74,000.
Employment was also up nationally in January, but with that growth being more in full-time jobs.
