Women wrestlers grabbed gold and silver medals for P.E.I. on Friday at the Canada Games as the host province's medal haul hit a record at this year's event.

Veronica Keefe of Winsloe North took gold in the up to 80 kilogram category as she defeated Alberta's Holly Clark. Jillian Durant of Pownal got the silver medal in the up to 65 kg category, with Dori Yeats of Quebec claiming gold.

The matches took place in the Montague and Area Recreation Complex.

P.E.I.'s two other medals both came Tuesday: Matthew Caseley won gold in hammer throw and Kurt McCormack claimed bronze in triple jump.

Up until these Canada Games, P.E.I. teams had never won more than two medals.
