P.E.I. potato farmers are turning to social media to advance their businesses and connect with other farmers.
Ontario farmer and social media expert Andrew Campbell was on the island to share his knowledge at the P.E.I. Potato Board's annual meeting.
Campbell said Twitter, Facebook and YouTube can be used for farm business sales and to help with some of the day-to-day problems that come up on a farm.
“We use it a lot for connecting with other farmers, to get new ideas from other farmers. We may have issues on the farm that we need to overcome,” he said.
“We go to Twitter now and we ask a question and all of a sudden producers come back with a whole bunch of answers. We've been able to make a lot smarter decisions on the farm with a lot of that information.”
He said thousands of farmers across the country are seeing social media as a valuable farming tool.
Twitter seems to be the most popular form of social media with the agricultural community, he said.
