Team P.E.I. has its first medals of the Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Que., winning two silver in wrestling.
Hannah Taylor and Lorena Ellis competed in the gold medal matches Thursday night, Taylor in the up to 52 kg class, and Ellis in the up to 65 kg class.
Both girls were undefeated going into the final matches but were up against tough competition in the finals. Ellis lost to Temitope Ogunjimi of Alberta, and Taylor to Julie Deborah Steffler of Ontario.
The two athletes join a small group of Islanders to win medals at the Canada Games.
Taylor, 15, has also won a national championship and is a member of the national team.
Ellis, 17, has now competed in both the winter and summer games and has won a medal in two sports, her silver in wrestling and a bronze in judo.
