The unemployment rate on P.E.I. fell to 10.6 per cent in August, mostly due to people leaving the workforce.

It was 11.8 per cent in July.

The number of jobs on the Island was mostly unchanged, but there was an increase in part-time jobs. The drop in full-time jobs reported by Statistics Canada was within the standard error of the report.

The drop in the workforce continues a trend that goes back to March of this year. Job numbers have been on a downward trend since April.
