The P.E.I. Council of People with Disabilities says it's undergoing some major changes.

It is hiring a consultant to look at everything from the programming and services the council offers to its website, logo, colours and name.

Executive director Marcia Carroll said 2014 marks the group's 40th anniversary and it's time to rebrand.

“We need to make changes in the way we deliver services because people are becoming more independent and we need to be able to recognize that. Disability rights has really broken open in the last ten years. So we have employers now that are willing to engage with us that we were never able to do that before,” she said.

Carroll said a major change will focus on how the council delivers its employee programs.

She said she’s hoping everything can be unveiled at the organization's annual meeting in June.
