P.E.I. brand of oysters recalled
Vibrio parahaemolyticus bacteria can make people sick
A brand of Prince Edward Island oysters has been recalled because they may contain bacteria that could make people sick.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says Kennie MacWilliams Seafoods Ltd., brand of oysters may be affected by Vibrio parahaemolyticus and may not look or smell spoiled.
If the oysters are consumed people could experience symptoms like watery or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, headache, fever, and chills.
Officials say severe illness caused by Vibrio parahaemolyticus is rare, but more common for people with weakened immune systems.
