P.E.I. beach set up at Pearson International Airport
Island tourism officials say airport beach part of promotion with Air Canada
A P.E.I. beach has been set up in a corner of Pearson International Airport.
Tourism PEI officials say its part of a promotion with Air Canada.
The beach display is located in the domestic flight area beyond security, and near a lot of the shops.
Brenda Gallant, director of marketing for Tourism PEI, said the beach area is designed to encourage people to sit awhile and contemplate a P.E.I. vacation.
"We've got the flooring that looks like sand," said Gallant. "We've got some Adirondack chairs, some nice bright red Adirondack chairs and beautiful scenery behind it that shows a beach area of Prince Edward Island."
"So it really makes you want to come to relax and to enjoy a wonderful vacation on the Island."
Gallant said the complete campaign with Air Canada also includes Island promotion on in-flight television, P.E.I. ads in Enroute magazine and on Air Canada's social media accounts, and 150 flights to be given away.
The campaign is called "150 reasons to visit, 150 free flights to get you there."
The total cost is 275 thousand dollars.
