Operation Snapshot

Police made the announcement regarding the child pornography arrests in Operation Snapshot in Dartmouth, N.S. (CBC)

Five people on P.E.I. have been charged and as many as seven others are still under investigation as part of a national police operation known as Operation Snapshot III.

In total 150 people across the country were charged. Five children were also rescued: two from British Columbia and one each from Ontario, New Brunswick and Quebec.

“It’s hard to imagine the scope of the problem worldwide and even more difficult to accept that our communities here on P.E.I. are not immune,” said RCMP Const. Shannon Hodder in a news release.

"It’s important to stay engaged and remain vigilant towards the safety of our children."

The operation began in February 2014.

Police seized more than a million images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children.
