The MV Holiday Island ferry will be back on schedule Saturday at 6:30 a.m. after being out of service today, according to Rick Wilson at the Wood Islands Terminal.

With one of two ferries on the P.E.I.–Nova Scotia run out of service, traffic picked up on both sides of the Northumberland Strait Friday.

An electrical problem caused Northumberland Ferries to tie up the MV Holiday Island Friday morning, leaving only MV Confederation to serve the busy route between Wood Islands, P.E.I. and Caribou, N.S. on a Friday before a weekend with a sunny forecast.

The Confederation left Wood Islands at 1:30 p.m. with a full load aboard and another full load left behind. Earlier Friday Northumberland Ferries officials said the backlog was worse on the Caribou side.
