A motorcycle accident in Stratford claimed the life of a man Saturday night.

Christopher Davis, 30, of Stratford was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP believe Davis lost control of his 2008 Honda CBR1 motorcycle at about 9:30 p.m. local time as he was on the Trans-Canada Highway, approaching a bridge going into Charlottetown.

As the motorcycle hit the curb, Davis was thrown from the bike.

Anthony Cheverien who lives nearby, said he came upon the scene after the crash.

"There was pieces of motorcycle lying everywhere. His helmet was lying in the middle of the road," said Cheverien.

"We didn't realize what it was until we saw the helmet and realized that it was the motorcycle driver himself who was laying there. There was about half a dozen people there seeing if he was alright I guess."

The RCMP are still investigating and would like to talk to anyone who witnessed the accident.
