A 92-year-old woman who went missing yesterday evening was found asleep in a field near her residence.

RCMP called in their canine unit along with P.E.I. Ground Search and Rescue to locate the woman who went missing on the Island Wednesday evening.

Police said the Ontario woman was staying with family at a summer home in Park Corner, and went missing at 8:30 p.m.

She was located four hours later.

“What happened was, the lady is 92 years old and she does have Alzheimers,” said Sgt. Darrell Gill. “She was located by the police dog service approximately one kilometre away from her residence. She was found lying in a field asleep.”

Gill said the woman was disoriented but not injured and was returned to her family.

RCMP are thanking local residents who assisted in the search.
