Midwifery association asks for public funding and regulation
Group met with provincial health minister Friday
Members of the Canadian Association of Midwives met with the provincial health minister Friday to ask that midwifery be publicly funded and regulated in P.E.I.
Prince Edward Island is one of two provinces where midwifery is not regulated.
The association is creating regulations to give to the province, but it is not sure when or if those regulations will be passed into law.
The incoming president of the association, Emmanuelle Hébert, described the meeting as extremely positive.
