A joint funeral was held in Sturgeon, P.E.I., Tuesday morning for Brent McGuigan, 68, and his son Brendon, 39, who were killed last week in a double homicide.

The men were shot to death last Wednesday night, say RCMP.

Police found the bodies after they were called to a home on St. Mary's Road, about 10 kilometres south of the eastern P.E.I. town of Montague.

The next day, Alfred Guy Vuozzo, 46, of Lower Montague, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

He remains in custody until his next court appearance Thursday in a Georgetown, P.E.I., courtroom.

Some Islanders have speculated there could be a possible connection between the homicides and decades-old automobile crash. The elder McGuigan's father was the driver of a vehicle involved in a collision in 1970 in which Vuozzo's sister was killed.

RCMP have not confirmed a link between the incidents.

The police investigation continues.
