Maritime Bus is looking for help from Summerside to keep its pilot bus program running in the Prince Edward Island city.

The interprovincial bus company said just a few dozen people use the Summerside bus per day and it needs financial help to keep it going.

Summerside cut its $2,500 subsidy in May.

Owner Mike Cassidy said he wants to add two daily runs to Charlottetown.

"Let's do a service along the TransCanada Highway and Route 10 through Bedeque so we can connect Summerside and Charlottetown on two major arteries. Within Summerside, can we focus on a certain demographic, which is that mid-day senior market and build Summerside transit slowly?" he said.

Cassidy wouldn’t reveal how much money Maritime Bus is asking for from the city.
