A 66-year-old man from Red Point died in a single vehicle crash Tuesday morning just off Route 2 near Dingwells Mills, say Souris RCMP.

Corp. Robert Holland said the man's flatbed commercial truck left the road just before 7:30 a.m. and rolled onto its roof in the ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"It was upside down, severe damage to the cab," said Holland.

"The road conditions were dry. The vehicle left the roadway on a gentle curving. It appears that he failed to negotiate the curvature on the road and went off down the slope and upturned in the ditch."

RCMP continue to investigate the cause. Police will be looking at whether a mechanical or medical problem may have been to blame.

The Workers Compensation Board has also launched an investigation.
