A western P.E.I. man faces a number of charges for taking up residence in a couple of summer homes he doesn't own.

RCMP say 39-year-old Bruce Joseph Doucette of Pleasant View broke into two homes in West Prince. In one house they say he ordered satellite TV and didn't pay for it. In another he ran up the power bill by using the stove for heat.

RCMP went after Doucette after the owners of the second home found someone living there, who  took off when they arrived. Police arrested Doucette several days later.

Const. John Russell of Alberton RCMP said there are other options for people who don't have a place to live. "He could have tried to avail himself of services," said Russell.

"Breaking into summer seasonal homes simply because you don't have a place to stay, there's lots of people who don't have a place to stay who aren't doing that, but that's essentially what he was doing."

Doucette will appear in Summerside court Wednesday where he faces a number of charges including break and enter, theft of a vehicle and breach of probation.
