Jared Connaughton fails to advance at Commonwealth Games
Island sprinter was competing in the Men's 100-metre event
A P.E.I. sprinter competing at the Commonwealth Games will not progress to the semi-finals of the Men's 100-metre event.
Jared Connaughton finished third Sunday morning in his heat in a time of 10.47 seconds.
The top two athletes in each heat automatically progress to the semi-finals and then the runners with the next six fastest overall results.
After a tie for second in one of the heats, there were only five spots up for grabs.
Connaughton missed the mark by just two one hundreds of a second.
He could have one more chance on the track. Connaughton is one of six Canadians on the 4x100m relay team, but the final Glasgow team hasn't been announced yet.
